Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems

By Nathaniel

Monitoring tyre pressure is vital to ensure the safety and longevity of your tyres. There are many commercial options available, ranging from handheld gauges to permanent Bluetooth monitoring systems that perform constant tyre pressure checks.

Why you need a tyre pressure check

Tyre pressure checks are incredibly important! If your pressure it too high, then less of the tyre will touch the ground. As a result, your car will bounce around on the road, losing traction and affecting stoppage distances. Your ride will also become noticeably less comfortable with increased bouncing on potholes and other rough terrain.

On the other hand, if your tyre pressure is too low, than too much of its surface area will touch this ground. This will increase the friction to the road, resulting in increased wear on the tyres and a potential for overheating. You can tell that your tyre pressure is low if they squeak when going around turns.

However, the only way to be completely sure about your tyre’s pressure is by performing a tyre pressure check. A quick shop at your local mechanic or online retailers should leave you with plenty of options for a tyre pressure monitoring tool!
