Oxygen sensors- also called Lamda sensors
They are small electronic devices that measure the proportion of oxygen in exhaust gas. All cars manufactured since 1980 come with an oxygen sensor located within the emissions control system.
These sensors have several functions, including monitoring emissions and engine efficiency. Oxygen sensors work closely with catalytic converters, changing the air fuel ratio so the catalytic converters can work optimally to ensure low emissions.
