Disc Brakes

Disc Brakes

By Gal Aharon

Disc brakes are the newer than drum brakes. Disc brakes are fitted directly outside the rotor unlike drum brakes, which have a drum housing. Disc brakes minimal housing allows them to dissipate heat more easily, therefore preventing them from wearing out as quickly as drum brakes.

Disc brakes are extremely effective, which is why typically only high-performance cars have them on all four tires. Most other cars have disc brakes on the front tires because it is more economical without compromising safety.

Changing Disc Brakes

Disc brake replacement costs typically cost $150 per axle, but can range from $100-$300 per axle.
