Compressors – Air Conditioning

Air conditioners cool indoor air through a refrigeration process. This is possible because liquid absorbs heat when it is converted into gas. This process is repeated in a system of coils to cool off the ambient air.

In order to maintain this cycle, compressors are required to turn the refrigerant gas back into a liquid. To do that, compressors put the gas under high pressure, creating excess heat. That heat is shed to the environment with a second set of coils (condenser coils) and a fan. The gas cools and changes back to a liquid.
